Schedule a Job with your Processor

This SOP outlines the steps for scheduling a job using the FarmShare app, ensuring a smooth and organized process for producers.

Key Steps

1. Accessing the Scheduling Page 0:00

2. Selecting a Processor 0:16

  • If you have previously booked a job, your assigned processor will be displayed.

  • If not, choose from the public meat processing plants listed in the FarmShare app.

3. Scheduling the Job 0:32

  • Click on 'Schedule'.

  • Review the notes associated with the processor.

  • Select the date(s) you wish to schedule.

4. Checking Availability 0:41

  • Enter the number of animals (e.g., beef or hog).

  • Ensure the dates turn green for availability; red indicates over capacity.

5. Choosing Inspection Level 1:18

  • Select the inspection level (USDA or exempt).

  • Note that some processors have specific days for USDA processing.

6. Confirming Details 1:40

  • Verify that the processor information is correct.

  • Decide if you want to be the contact for all animal groups by toggling the green icon.

7. Entering Buyer Information 1:56

  • Scroll down to enter buyer names in the split and customer information tab.

  • You can enter ear tags for the animal groups to help the processor stay organized.

8. Adding New Customers 2:26

  • If you want to add a new customer, provide their first name, last name, and a type of phone or email.

  • Save the information.

9. Sending Booking Request 2:44

  • Review all entered information.

  • Send in the booking request to finalize the job scheduling.

Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure all information is accurate to avoid processing delays.

  • Double-check the availability of dates before finalizing the booking.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Familiarize yourself with the processors and their capacities to streamline the scheduling process.

  • Keep a list of frequent buyers to expedite the entry process. Once you enter a buyer into Farmshare, they will always be available to choose in the dropdown list later.
