Understanding Your Carcass Tags

Learn what's on each carcass tag and how to use the QR code to access cutsheet details on the rail.

Carcass tags are generated automatically by Farmshare after hanging weights are entered. Each animal gets two tags — one for Side A and one for Side B — with the hanging weight divided equally between the two sides.

Here's a breakdown of what appears on each tag:

Tracking Number — displayed at the top of the tag. This is the unique identifier assigned to that animal head within the job.

Producer — the name of the producer who brought in the animal.

Job ID — the Farmshare job identifier, linking the tag back to the specific processing job.

Inspection Level — displayed prominently (e.g., USDA, State, Exempt) so it's immediately visible on the rail.

Harvest Date (KD) — the date the animal was killed.

Cut Date (CD) — the scheduled date for cutting, based on your auto-scheduling settings or manually entered cut date.

Side & Weight — each tag clearly identifies which side it belongs to (Side A or Side B) along with the hanging weight for that side in pounds.

QR Code — each tag includes a scannable QR code that links directly to the job details page in Farmshare. Anyone with a phone on the processing floor can scan the tag to instantly pull up the cutsheet for that animal — no need to track down paperwork.

Tip: The QR code is one of the most useful features of the carcass tag system. Scannable directly from the rail, it gives your team instant access to the customer's cutsheet without leaving the floor — reducing errors and saving time during the cutting process.
