Set Up and Publish a Beef or Animal Buyer Marketplace

This SOP explains how to configure a Beef or Animal Marketplace, set producer and pricing defaults, list animals for sale, and manage buyer requests.

1. Open the Buyer Marketplace from the Landing Page 0:00

  • Navigate to Landing Page.

  • Select Buyer Marketplace to begin setup.

  • Confirm you are in the correct marketplace area before making changes.

2. Link the Correct Producer Account 0:12

  • Link the producer that matches your in-house operation or the farm that is actually selling the animals.

  • Enter the producer name and connect it to the marketplace.

  • Verify that the linked producer will use the existing Stripe payout account, contact information, pricing, and account details.

  • If you are not selling your own raised/finished animals, do not link a producer in this way.

3. Confirm the Producer Is Saved as the Preferred Seller 0:44

  • After linking, confirm the producer is attached successfully.

  • Understand that this producer becomes the preferred producer moving forward.

  • Verify the marketplace is now ready to list buyers under this producer.

4. Add Branding and Producer Profile Details 0:55

  • Copy or upload the following items to the producer profile as needed:

    • Logo

    • Farm name

    • Address

    • Payout account

    • Banner image

    • Thumbnail image

    • Highlights

  • Add a short bio that describes the farm.

  • Example bio: Grass-fed farm serving the community.

  • Add highlights such as:

    • Family-owned

    • Multi-generational

    • Custom-processing

    • Community-focused

5. Feature Trusted Farms and Set Visibility Rules 1:40

  • Choose up to five farms that you personally vouch for.

  • Select the badge type for each featured farm:

    • Recommended

    • Partner Farm

    • Featured Farm

    • In-house

  • Decide whether to show animals from all producers at your facility.

  • If you want only approved producers visible, turn this setting off.

  • Confirm that:

    • Your own animals always appear automatically.

    • Other producers’ animals can still be available on the marketplace even if they are not advertised from your page.

    • Those animals still route through your processing plant for pickup.

6. Save Marketplace Defaults for Animal Listings 2:31

  • Open Marketplace defaults after saving producer settings.

  • Set default listing rules for animals, including:

    • Average animal weight

    • Whether buyers can purchase whole, halves, and quarters or only whole and halves

    • Pricing method: hanging weight or flat fee

    • Deposit amount

  • Add default marketing descriptions for each species, such as:

    • Grass-fed

    • Grain-finished

    • No antibiotics

    • Angus

    • Other product-specific selling points

  • Repeat the same setup for other species, such as hogs.

  • Save the defaults so they appear automatically on future listings.

7. Review Contact Information and Marketplace Preview 3:36

  • Check that all contact information is accurate and professional.

  • Open the Buyer Marketplace preview to confirm how the public page appears.

  • Verify the marketplace layout, branding, and listing sections display correctly.

  • If no animals are available yet, confirm the page still loads properly and is ready for listings.

8. Prepare the Animal for Sale by Scheduling the Job 4:09

  • Go to the Animals area.

  • Schedule the job for the animal you want to sell.

  • You may either:

    • Assign the animal to an existing calendar job, or

    • Schedule it for a future job.

  • Enter identifying details such as the tag number if needed.

  • Confirm the animal is scheduled but not yet assigned if you are preparing it for listing.

9. Filter Scheduled Animals and List Them for Sale 4:55

  • In the Animals list, filter by Scheduled.

  • Review animals that are scheduled but not yet assigned.

  • Open each animal and confirm the seller type is correct:

    • In-House Animals

    • Buyer

    • Seller

  • Confirm payments route to your Stripe account.

  • Save the animal and select List or Save and List to publish it to the marketplace.

10. Attach Buyer Requests to the Correct Animal 5:39

  • Review any incoming split or purchase requests.

  • Match the buyer request to the correct animal listing.

  • Attach the request directly to the animal so the buyer can proceed.

  • If the request was created by you for testing, do not place it as a real buyer order.

  • Use buyer leads from actual customers to complete this step.

11. Verify the Public Marketplace Listing 6:07

  • Open the marketplace listing to confirm the public view.

  • Check that buyers can:

    • Reserve a whole or half animal

    • See estimated costs

    • Pay a whole or half deposit

  • Confirm the listing displays correctly and matches the default settings you configured.

12. Monitor Marketplace Activity and Notifications 6:19

  • Return to the Buyer Marketplace page to confirm animals are visible for sale.

  • Verify the correct number of animals appears on the page.

  • Confirm ads can begin running once listings are active.

  • If a buyer wants future availability updates, use the Notify Me option so they receive an alert when a new animal type is listed.

Cautionary Notes

  • Only link a producer if it is the correct in-house or owned operation; linking the wrong producer can route payouts and contact details incorrectly.

  • Double-check Stripe payout settings before publishing any animal for sale.

  • If you do not want animals from other producers shown on your public page, disable the setting that displays all producers at your facility.

  • Make sure scheduled animals are correctly assigned before listing them to avoid publishing incomplete or inaccurate information.

  • Do not attach test or self-submitted requests as real buyer orders.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Prepare producer branding assets in advance: logo, banner, thumbnail, bio, and highlights.

  • Save marketplace defaults once so future animal listings populate automatically.

  • Use consistent descriptions for each species to reduce repetitive setup work.

  • Filter by Scheduled animals when listing to quickly find animals ready to publish.

  • Review the public marketplace preview after each major setup change to catch issues early.

  • Use featured farm settings to promote trusted partners without manually re-entering their details each time.
