How Do I Classify a Head as a Farmkill?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We're actively working on a more streamlined way to handle farmkills β€” but in the meantime, here are the best options available today depending on how much detail you need.

Option 1: Add a Note to the Job (Quickest)

This is the simplest approach and is a good fit when you want the farmkill notation to carry through to invoicing without tracking it at the individual animal level.

  1. From your Calendar, find and open the job you'd like to update.

  2. Click the Notes tab at the top of the job page.

  3. Select the + button in the upper right corner to add a new note.

  4. Type your note (e.g., "Farmkill") in the text box and click Save.

The note will be tied to that job all the way through invoicing.

Option 2: Tag a Specific Head as a Farmkill

If you need to track the farmkill at the individual animal level, use the Producer Identifier field on the head record.

  1. From the job page, click the Heads tab.

2. Select the specific head you'd like to tag.

3. Click Edit Details in the upper right corner.

4. In the Producer Identifier field, enter your notation β€” for example, Farmkill, FK-1, or FK-2.

5. Click Save.

Option 3: Display the Farmkill ID on Carcass Tags

If you'd like the Producer Identifier (FK-1, FK-2, etc.) to appear on your printed carcass tags, you'll need to update one setting first. You only need to do this once.

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Settings > Processor Settings.

  2. On the General page, click the Document Settings tab.

3. Under What title do you want to use on your carcass tags?, select Prefer Ear Tag.

4. Click the green Save button.

From that point on, when you print carcass tags, the Producer Identifier will appear on each tag β€” making it easy to identify farmkill animals throughout processing.
